Goals
This patient in her 40s already looked great but was beginning to notice early facial aging, subtle loss of jawline definition, and changes in her neck contour. She was not looking for a dramatic transformation. Her goal was to maintain the features she already liked, improve her jawline and neck, and look more rested while still looking completely like herself.
Procedure
I performed a SMAS facelift and deep plane neck lift to address the early changes in her lower face and neck. The deeper facial tissues were repositioned rather than simply tightening the skin. The neck was reshaped and tightened to create a cleaner, deeper cervicofacial angle, while the jawline was refined to restore a crisp, youthful contour.
Outcome
She has a crisper jawline, a more defined neck, and a refreshed, rested appearance without looking pulled or overdone. Most importantly, she still looks like herself. She was very happy with her natural facelift and neck lift result.
Key Principle
A facelift does not have to wait until facial aging becomes advanced. For the right patient, addressing early changes in the 40s can be about maintenance and preservation rather than transformation. By repositioning the deeper tissues and restoring the jawline and neck before significant laxity develops, the goal is to maintain the features you already like and allow you to continue looking like yourself as you age.
