Goals: She was primarily concerned with neck skin laxity and loss of jawline definition. She wanted to restore the beautiful, defined jawline she once had without looking different or overly tightened. An important concern was eliminating redundant neck tissue, particularly when flexing or turning her neck, while maintaining a natural appearance.
Procedure: A deep plane facelift and neck lift were performed to address lower facial descent, jawline definition, and neck laxity. The mastoid crevasse technique was used to improve lateral neck support and create a cleaner transition between the jawline and neck.
Outcome: She has a smoother, more defined jawline and neckline with significantly less redundancy of the neck tissues, including with neck movement. She looks rested and rejuvenated while still looking completely like herself. She is very happy with her result.
Key Principle: A natural neck lift is not simply about pulling the skin tighter. Restoring deeper support and properly repositioning the tissues of the lower face and neck can recreate a defined jawline and reduce neck redundancy while allowing the patient to remain recognizable and natural, even with movement.
