Breast Augmentation (axillary approach)

Breast Augmentation – Female in Her 20s

Goals
This patient in her 20s presented with an A-cup breast and wanted a natural breast augmentation to approximately a small C cup. Her goal was to have fuller breasts that remained proportionate to her body.

Procedure
After discussing implant size, shape, and incision options, we selected a 300 cc silicone moderate-plus profile implant. Because of her skin type and our concern about a potentially visible breast scar, I performed the augmentation through an axillary incision, placing the scar within the natural crease of the armpit.

Outcome
At six months, she has soft, proportionate breast fullness that fits her frame and achieves the size she wanted. Her breasts have a natural shape, and there is no visible scar on the breast. She is very happy with her result.

Key Principle
Every breast augmentation should be individualized—not only in implant selection, but also in scar placement. Different patients have different anatomy, skin characteristics, and goals. Taking the time to choose the right implant size and the most appropriate incision for that particular patient can make an important difference in achieving a natural, proportionate result with the least conspicuous scar possible.
