Female, 30s
Goals: This patient in her 30s was physically fit and worked out regularly but was unable to achieve the waist definition and flat abdomen she wanted, even with additional weight loss. Her goal was to create a narrower waist with better separation between the torso and hips and a flatter abdominal contour.
Procedure: Full tummy tuck with repair of abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti), combined with liposuction of the waist and back to improve circumferential body contour.
Outcome: She was very happy to finally have the flatter abdomen and defined waist she had been unable to achieve through exercise and weight loss alone. Her narrower waist and improved transition into the hips gave her the more feminine, shapely figure she had been looking for while still feeling natural and proportional to her body.
Key Principle: Creating an attractive waist is not simply about removing more fat. In this patient, differential repair of the abdominal muscle separation was used to help shape and narrow the waist from within, while targeted liposuction of the waist and back further enhanced the external contour. Combining these techniques created the waist definition that additional weight loss alone could not achieve.
