Patient Concern
This woman in her 60s was bothered by excess, loose skin and fullness of her upper arms. Her arms appeared larger than she wanted, and she particularly disliked the way the loose skin moved and jiggled when she raised or moved her arms.
Procedure
She underwent an arm lift (brachioplasty) combined with liposuction to remove excess skin, reduce unwanted fat, and improve the overall contour of her upper arms.
Outcome
The procedure created slimmer, smoother, and more proportionate upper arms, with a significant improvement in the loose, hanging skin.
Brachioplasty requires a relatively long incision along the upper arm. In her case, the scar was carefully positioned to be less conspicuous in normal arm positions, balancing the trade-off of a permanent scar against a substantial improvement in arm contour.
Key Principle
For patients with significant skin laxity, liposuction alone cannot correct excess skin. Combining liposuction with brachioplasty addresses both unwanted fat and loose skin, providing more complete arm contouring.
